The Opus Dei prelature has centres in 60 different countries. It provides its members and others with formation and support to strive for holiness and carry out a Christian apostolate wherever they are, through retreats, courses, spiritual guidance…
There are also many cooperators who help Opus Dei throughout the world, of all religions and none. |

“Yours is truly a great ideal in Opus Dei: to live in union with God in the midst of the world, in all situations, with the help of divine grace trying to be better and making Christ known through the witness of your life. Is there anything more beautiful and more exciting than this?” Pope John Paul II |

Some members of Opus Dei are being considered for beatification which shows that ordinary life can lead to holiness:
Isidoro Zorzano (1902-1943), a railway engineer, one of the first members of Opus Dei; Montserrat Grases (1942-1959), who died of bone cancer at age 17; Guadalupe Ortiz (1916-1975), who helped to start the women’s apostolates of Opus Dei in Mexico, and her brother Eduardo Ortiz (1910-1985), a medical doctor, married with seven children; Tony Zweifel (1938-1989), an engineer from Switzerland; Bishop Alvaro del Portillo (1914-1994), one of the first three Opus Dei priests, who in 1975 succeeded Saint Josemaría at the head of Opus Dei. |
